There is a program Microsoft UPHClean (User Profile Hive Cleanup Service) It will help your PC speed up the shutdown process. There are mainly reason it could take a long time for the computer to shutdown. Viruses, spyware, open programs (shutting down while still having programs open) your computer may struggle while trying to shutdown with them still up and open. The program can be download from Microsoft. The installation is easy and straightforward. Sadly the program is not supported in Windows Vista operating system.
